Getting a new console is one of the most exciting things about being a big gaming fan. The average American games for 6 hours per week but it is most likely, if you are reading this, you either play games more often or know someone who does.

When you game a lot and your gaming console starts to collect dust it is not only aesthetically an issue but it’s also a safety hazard. I know someone who left his console to get filled with dust and grime for years until it started to smoke and he had to throw it out. You do want this to happen to you and using this guide will try to give you the best tips to keep your gaming consoles tidy and dust-free.

The Materials

There are a few stages to the cleaning process here, you could be a deep cleaner and have all the equipment for an in-depth clean or you can be a beginner in the cleaning game and not have all the equipment. I will go through a list of items below that you may or may not have, that will make the cleaning process easier and better.

Rubbing Alcohol and Cotton Swabs

Starting with some items you might have, these two are essentials here with the rubbing alcohol being an absolute essential. The grime and dirt that can be picked up with rubbing alcohol is second to none and can’t be replicated with water- do NOT use water! Rubbing alcohol kills germs and dries quickly, meaning that you can clean it and have it not damage the inside of your console which water can do.

Cotton swabs are helpful for those tiny nooks and crannies that the dust will sit in. Having a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol is a fantastic combination and almost as good as finding a CSGO Gambling site with Rust Skin Gambling on it too, it has everything you need and can do everything asked of you.

Air Duster and Goo Gone

Okay, in all honesty, you probably won’t have these items in your cabinets but you should get them! These are helpful for consoles, PCs, laptops and even TVs because they can get the dust out that a cotton swab can’t reach. The air duster is a newer item for me and it has changed my cleaning when it comes to device cleaning with the Goo Gone combination it has changed the game.

I usually use the air duster and blow the dust out, then use the Goo Gone to pick up the dust and get it as far away from the console as possible.

The start of this should start with you unplugging the port from the wall and the device (make sure you take out your disc before this), then flip the device over and kay it on your table.

This next stage is optional and requires a little more work, I usually unscrew the back of the device and make the dust more visible for me to get. When I have taken the side off, I use the rubbing alcohol and get to scrubbing. I aim to clean every bit of the surface, not just the parts that look dirty, and lay it to the side when the scrubbing is done.

When you can see all the dust this is where our good friends, the dust cleaner and the Goo Gone come out to play. I use the cotton swabs on the smaller areas and then use the air duster to get as much out as possible.

When nearly all of the dust is gone, I gently use the Goo Gone on the back of the ports to get the stubborn parts out. When all the dust is cleaned, you can put it back together and reap the benefits of a clean and cooler console which will help with downloading some big games like Grand Theft Auto!
